The RIKEN BioResource Center (BRC) stores and makes available to researchers a diversity of resources including experimental mice, experimental Arabidopsis plants, human and animal cellular materials including iPS cells, genetic material, and microorganisms. The center also provides extensive information about all of these materials, as well as training courses in the handling of bioresources. By providing iPS cells and other types of stem cells to researchers both in and outside Japan, the BRC is promoting research not only in regenerative medicine but also in drug design by facilitating a better understanding of disease mechanisms, and thus contributing to advances in the medical sciences in general. BRC 生物遺伝資源（バイオリソース）は、科学技術、イノベーションの発展に必要不可欠な研究基盤です。当センターは我が国の貴重なバイオリソース、すなわち実験用マウス、実験植物シロイヌナズナ、iPS細胞等のヒト・動物細胞材料、遺伝子材料、微生物材料を収集、高品質に保存・管理し、それらを情報とともに利用を希望する研究者に提供することにより研究開発の発展に貢献しています。2001年の設立以来、信頼性、継続性、先導性を事業の柱として展開し、いずれのリソースについても、国際的な拠点として活動しています。 BioResource Research Center
